RoRo gives 40 dolls to children with autism

April is an Autism Awareness Month in many countries across the world. In Iceland the highlight of this month is without a doubt the "Blue Day" on April 6th. The benefit "Blár apríl" (Blue April) encourages the whole nation to participate in this day by wearing something blue and by supporting their cause. All the money from Blár apríl's fundraising is donated towards autism awareness, but each year is dedicated to a certain program. This year all donated money goes towards creating educational material as has been done in the last 2 years. This great video (only in Icelandic) is amongst the material created by the benefit.

On this occasion we at RoRo donated 40 Lulla dolls to children with autism, in collaboration with Blár apríl. The dolls were given to 8 preschools in the Reykjavik area (capital of Iceland).

Lulla has shown to help a lot of children with autism, especially with falling asleep more easily and giving them comfort. Many children with autism have difficulties with sleep and we are so happy when we hear stories of Lulla helping in these cases.

The preschools were selected based on information from the State Diagnostic and Counselling Centre and Blár apríl. The rate of children with autism was taken into consideration, but these 8 preschools have a higher rate of children with autism than most other preschools in the area.

Attending the presentation of the Lulla dolls were representatives from the preschools and the Diagnostic Centre, along with Ragnhildur Ágústsdóttir, chairman of the benefit Blár apríl and Eyrún Eggertsdóttir, the founder of RoRo and the designer of Lulla doll.
